Welcome to our new Historical Society website. We hope that together we’ll be able to help each other dig further into our families’ past. Although our genealogical paths may not cross, we all have faced the same obstacles and road-blocks.
Sometimes all we need is a fresh set of eyes to get us back on track again. One thing about family researchers is that we enjoy our friends’ successes almost as much as our own, so we’re always ready to share what’s helped us in the past.
Some of us are new at this, but others have been doing research for years, and are old hands at digging out tidbits from old newspapers, and making sense of barely decipherable census records.
A warning for those who are just starting out, it is VERY addictive. Each time we find a piece to the puzzle, the puzzle gets bigger, not smaller. Pray you have an understanding partner, because you are going to be spending hours hunched over a computer, while supper gets cold (or doesn’t
get made at all!). You’ll begin to plan vacations around visits to cemeteries and libraries.
But you will find out where you came from, and who the people in all those old pictures are. And you will make lots of friends who share the same interests, like your new Historical Society family.
